Healthy communities.

Brighter futures.

We are an NGO working with community members to improve public health, educational outcomes, and economic opportunities in informal settlements.

In kenya, millions of people live in informal settlements.

In these communities, residents lack access to quality health care, proper nutrition, and adequate sanitation, leaving them susceptible to preventable diseases.

Limited access to quality education and economic advancement opportunities, high levels of unemployment, and gender inequity further impede individual and community progress. Though residents are talented, resilient, and entrepreneurial, many lack the opportunities needed to break the cycle of poverty. We’re changing that narrative.

we partner with communities to drive change.

For over 20 years, we’ve worked with residents of informal settlements to improve health, education, and economic outcomes in their communities.

Thanks to these collaborations, we are able to identify the most pressing challenges in each community through participatory research, build the capacity of local health and education systems, develop youth leaders, and drive change from within.

🎉 Today, we celebrate #CFKAfrica’s “birthday” —the day we were incorporated! We’re grateful to the visionaries who began our journey 23 years ago in Kibera and those who have continued to support our work from the early days. We’re grateful for our tireless leaders, dedicated volunteers, and passionate staff who have all united around the idea that talent is universal but opportunity is not. Above all, we’re grateful to our community for your trust, resilience, and powerful ideas. Onward we go!

Jackline, a 20-year-old first-time mother, is one of many pregnant women who have traveled long distances to deliver at #CFKAfrica's Tabitha Maternity Home during the Kenyan healthcare workers’ strike. TMH remains committed to the women and children of Kibera and beyond, especially during times of crisis. Congratulations, Jackline, on the birth of your baby girl! #maternalhealth
